Conceptualized to be a place where ‘Old world sophistication meets urban sensibilities’, we knew we had started off on an ambitious journey! 18 months well spent, many amazing creative & rewarding hours later, Hamptons Café is truly a dream come true for the entire team at RSI.
From the time the idea was born (over a cup of good coffee & good read, as most good ideas usually do!) The Hamptons just seemed the perfect answer to Dubai’s lifestyle. The Hamptons sophistication, style, history & heritage were the perfect backdrop on which the concept developed further. Music was hand selected & flown in from the Big Apple itself. Wainscoting, Walnut Oak Hard wood floors, large picture frame windows & oak wood furniture started shaping the look & feel. ‘La Vie en Rose’ played in the background while our Concept team started conjuring up ‘signature’ recipes & experiences that would create the ‘Hamptons Brand’. A grand total of 88 authentic Images of art were shipped in from the USA, these now rest in the Café bringing to life images & memories from its namesake, The Long Island region of USA.
With the concept coming to life, RSI started its headhunt, bringing in a hand picked team of professionals from around the world. Chefs trained in French Cuisine & Patisserie were chosen not just for talent but their ability to adhere to SOPs that RSI put operationally into place.
Our Kitchen was kept busy for 4 months before opening doors; we just had to have the perfect combination of local produce with Hamptonian sophistication. The now famous Rose Croissants, Peanut butter French Toast, Montauk Eggs were just the start of a reputation for creative bold culinary feats. Emphasis on using premium quality products is a cornerstone philosophy of The Hamptons Cafe. After many delicious trials & a few calories heavier, we finally developed a menu that made us all happy & got the city queuing for reservations!
But Great food & excellent coffee was just not enough! Now the team at RSI decided it was time to ‘revive’ the tea culture in Dubai. We set off on a delicious ‘tea tasting’ journey. The sophistication of the brand of teas selected naturally lent itself to our creation of the ‘Tea Tray’, resplendent with infuser, timer, delicate tea service & a hand crafted Macaron.
2 months of on-site training, food tastings & some sneak previews for the city’s well-heeled socialites, bloggers & press, The Hamptons opened doors on 14 May 2014 & enjoyed a successive Full House every day. The city responded just the way we expected, with visits from the Ruler & other Royal delegates within the first week of opening doors.
The Hamptons is our tribute to Dubai. Totally made indigenously by our team in Dubai, it’s the result of love, passion & a lot of hard work & belief in our 20 year old tried & tested F&B operating systems. It’s an example that Dubai can create & launch its own indigenously crafted world-class F&B experiences while competing with some of the best brands from around the world. And we repeat again our die-hard philosophy: with the perfect combination of Head Turning concept & branding, memorable food, interiors that have oomph & personality, smart efficient service & of course Systems & Procedures that help operate a professionally run outlet are the Restaurant Secrets behind amazing good businesses!
